Adenta Farmers Encouraged to Make Use of Value Addition
to Increase Profits

3rd December, 2022

The Adenta Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Daniel Alexander Nii-Noi Adumuah, has urged farmers to add value to their produce in order to expand their market share and increase revenues. He claimed that would increase their ability to draw in customers, offer them a competitive edge, and increase their sales and profit margins.

Speaking on the theme “Accelerating Agricultural Development through Value Addition” during the municipality’s 38th National Farmers’ Day celebration, he claimed that as farmers continued to lose land to real estate developers, agriculture activities have became rare in the municipality. “There is not much we can do as an Assembly but we can only encourage you to consider value addition instead of only production, and if possible come together to acquire some of the lands to facilitate your activities” he added.

Value addition, according to Madam Anna Armo-Himbson, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), is essential for employment development, particularly in these trying times. She stated in her keynote speech that this might aid in closing the unemployment gap of roughly 1.74 million (13.4%) of Ghana’s 13 million working population. The World Bank-funded Ghana Jobs and Skills Development Programme, which seeks to teach 50,000 youth, was pushed by Madam Armo-Himbson to the youth.
